Interlibrary Loan

If you’d like to borrow materials that are not part of your Rowan County Public Library’s collection, you may request those materials from other libraries via interlibrary loan. There’s no charge for an interlibrary loan (unless you’re asking for something like a photocopy of another library’s items), and you can ask for books of all kinds, movies, music on CD, and even audiobooks! All you need is a library card with an account in good standing. You’ll be contacted when your ILL materials arrive so that you can come check them out, just like placing an item on reserve.

It’s important to remember that interlibrary loan items cannot be renewed in the normal way. If you want to keep an ILL for longer than the initial loan period, you’ll need to speak to the library’s specialist, Marilyn, and ask for a renewal over the phone or in person.

To make an interlibrary loan request, please browse our catalog for your desired materials first. If they aren’t listed in our collection, you can request them via interlibrary loan by calling the library at 606-784-7137, or by filling out the form below.

Please Note: Libraries will not loan genealogy items, bestsellers, or new items through interlibrary loan.
