RCPL At Home

Think. Connect. Library.

Rowan County Public Library at Home

We missed you!

The Library is open again for you to come and visit whenever you are ready or you may continue to take advantage of our drive-thru and Bookmobile services.

We are all doing our best to socially distance ourselves from others physically, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t gather digitally! We currently do not have any in-person events but we are trying new ways to do programming and currently have some digital events on our Facebook page.  As always, we encourage patrons to take advantage of our free digital resources. With these, you can stream movies, download and read ebooks and graphic novels, listen to audiobooks and music, read magazines, learn a language, + more! Go to rowancountylibrary.org/digital-resources to start downloading.

NOTE: This page is a collection of links sourced from other libraries/establishments and RCPL library content pertaining to things to do at home, ways to keep healthy, and resources for individuals who were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Page updated weekly.

Story Time has gone digital! The Library is open but we will continue our Storytime by posting videos on our Facebook page.

Miss Sandy reads “Piranhas Don’t Eat Bananas” by Aaron Blabey. Everyone knows that piranhas don’t eat bananas — except for Brian. This little fish loves to munch not only on bananas but on the fruit of all kinds! Brian’s piranha friends think he’s crazy. Piranhas don’t eat bananas — their sharp teeth are for eating meat! And there’s a scrumptious pair of feet dangling in the water nearby…   CLICK to watch!

Jessica reads “How Do Dinosaurs Eat Their Food?” by Jane Yolen and Mark Teague. These mischievous dinosaurs show that burping, spilling, playing with one’s food and outright refusing to eat are not the best ways to enjoy a meal. An entertaining guide to table manners and a good reminder that positive and pleasant mealtime behavior gets the best results.

Jessica reads “Giraffes Can’t Dance” by Giles Andreae and Guy Parker-Rees. Giraffes Can’t Dance is a touching tale of Gerald the giraffe, who wants nothing more than to dance. With crooked knees and thin legs, it’s harder for a giraffe than you would think. Gerald is finally able to dance to his own tune when he gets some encouraging words from an unlikely friend.
