Take advantage of our community outreach services and be part of our monthly book club at the Rowan County Senior Citizens Center. There's a new book every month, requestable in advance through our bookmobile! Intended for ages 55+.

Our first title of 2024 is A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, the 1943 coming-of-age story often described as one of the greatest American novels. It follows Francie Nolan, a New York girl from a family some would call broken, but which nevertheless sticks together through all the thick and thin that life can throw at them. This book is hailed as a perfect snapshot of its time, going from touching to overwhelming to uplifting and back again. Even decades later, critics agree Betty Smith's work is not to be missed!
