Library Employment

Your Rowan County Public Library is a great place to work! We welcome applicants from our community who aspire to provide the best possible library service, so that we can work together to stay at the forefront of education and information services and to keep providing the best in programming and materials.

If you’d like to join the RCPL family, just bring a copy of your résumé and an appropriate cover letter to our front circulation desk for our Executive Director and Assistant Director to look over. We keep résumés on file for six (6) months, so if we don’t do any hiring during that time, be sure to give us an updated copy if you’re still interested! We try hard to call everyone back whether you got the job or not, but if you don’t hear from us after a reasonable period, feel free to call us at (606) 784-7137 to ask about your hiring status or whether there are currently any openings at the library.

RCPL is an equal opportunity employer; no employee or applicant will be discriminated against on the basis of race or ethnicity, gender identity, religious affiliation or lack thereof, age, national origin, disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or any other basis prohibited under applicable law. Dyed or colored hair, piercings, and tattoos are all perfectly acceptable, so long as any jewelry or imagery which may be considered unacceptable in a professional or family environment can be removed or covered by normal clothing. The library is also a drug-free and alcohol-free workplace. A pre-employment background check is required.

Please Note: RCPL does not have employment application forms. Applicants must submit a résumé in order to be considered for employment.
