Dr. Seuss Day 2023

Dr. Seuss's birthday is one of our favorite holidays to celebrate at the library; we look forward to every March 2nd, and we hope you do, too!

Each year, we have some great games for kids, from block stacking to a ring toss, fishing for red fish and blue fish, and more. Every child gets to take home Dr. Seuss prizes like craft kits and school supplies that we hope encourage a love of reading well after they head home.

Of course, all of our activities would be much harder to operate without help from our volunteers! Students from the Rowan County Senior High School Honors Program join patrons in greeting visitors, running games, and handing out prizes alongside our youth services staff. We're glad to welcome their assistance every spring!

Dr. Seuss's books have inspired an early love of reading and learning for generations of kids, teaching important lessons like friendship, responsibility, acceptance, and respect for nature through fanciful rhymes and Seuss's unmistakable illustrations. His birthday is an annual opportunity for libraries everywhere to do the same: Get children reading, thinking, and having fun all at the same time.

We hope to see you for the next one!
