In October, we're reading Jodi Picoult and Jennifer Finney Boylan's Mad Honey: A suspenseful romance exploring the secrets we keep and the risks we take in order to be ourselves.

Olivia's perfect life is upended when her husband shows his darker side, and she finds herself forced to flee back to her hometown with her son, Asher, to take over her father's beekeeping business. At the same time, a girl named Lily relocates there to finish high school, hoping for a fresh start. Their paths cross when Lily falls for Asher, with whom she feels safe for the first time in a long time.

Then, suddenly, it all goes wrong again when Olivia answers her phone to hear Lily is dead and Asher is being questioned by the police. She remains adamant that her son is innocent, but can't lie to herself about the flashes of his father's temper that she sees in him. As the case unfolds, she learns her boy has hidden more than he's shared with her.
