RCPL welcomes new board members

We're excited to welcome two (2) new members to our Board of Trustees: Drew Henderson and Dr. Shana Savard-Hogge! Rowan County Judge/Executive Harry Clark issued the oath of office to our new trustees at yesterday's public board meeting, witnessed by existing trustees Jason Slone, Deborah Howes, and Chelsea Hogg Watts.

While it's always bittersweet to say goodbye to longtime board members (like the outgoing Peg Jones, whose final term ended June 30 this year), keeping fresh community voices involved in library operations is critical to us. As time marches on and we adapt our services or try new things, we (and y'all!) benefit from updates in perspective.

In this case, Dr. Savard-Hogge comes to us from Maysville Community and Technical College, where she serves as Director of Grants and Contracts. Her experience in education and with securing funds extends through nearly 20 years at Morehead State University, as well.

Also with a background at MSU, Drew served students, staff, and faculty as Information Technology Director. While he's now retired, he remains as present as ever in the Morehead Theatre Guild, where he's directed several hit plays and worked behind the scenes on stage, lighting, and so on for numerous others.

As valued and active members of the Rowan County community, we can't wait to see what these folks bring to the table!

If you'd like to meet our trustees, the library's regular board meetings are at 4pm on the third Wednesday of every month.
