September's title is Hill Women by Cassie Chambers, an autobiographical account of the challenges faced by Appalachian women, both daily and systemic. Chambers counters the despondency of isolation, ostracism, and poverty with the hope of community leadership, determination, and heart. Her story shows that there is more to our homeland than domestic violence and the opioid crisis—not only what the women of Appalachia survive, but what they have to offer.
